Two ADBU Professors Named Among World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford

Guwahati, Assam:  In a proud moment for Assam’s academic community, two faculty members from Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) have been featured in Stanford University’s prestigious list of the world’s top 2% scientists, underscoring the state’s growing footprint in global research.

Prof. K.G. Bhattacharyya, who serves in the Department of Chemistry and also coordinates NAAC activities at ADBU, has been recognized for his contributions to Environmental Sciences. Notably, he has maintained his position in Stanford’s global rankings since 2020.

Joining him on the list is Prof. Raja Chakraborty, Principal of the university’s Institute of Pharmacy, who has been acknowledged for his work in Medicinal and Biomolecular Chemistry.

Reacting to the recognition, ADBU Vice Chancellor Fr. (Dr) Jose Palely expressed pride in the faculty’s achievements. “This milestone reflects our commitment to socially relevant research. We are building a robust research culture that includes faculty, scholars, and even graduate students—many of whom have published internationally,” he said.

Assam Don Bosco University has carved a niche in the state’s private education landscape. It holds the distinction of being Assam’s first private university, the first to secure UGC 12B status, and the first to earn a NAAC ‘A’ Grade among private institutions in the region. The university also offers MCA and MBA programmes through its Centre for Distance and Online Education, which is approved by the UGC-DEB.

The inclusion of ADBU faculty in Stanford’s global list is expected to inspire further academic excellence and innovation across Assam’s higher education sector.
