Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on April 29 inaugurated a series of development initiatives in Langthabal Assembly Constituency, calling on citizens and civil society groups to work together for peace and stability in the state.
The projects unveiled include three water supply schemes at Karam, Haoreibi and Lilong Chajing, along with two newly built community halls at Naran Konjil Mayai Leikai and Naorem Leikai. The programme was held at Naorem Leikai Community Hall in Imphal West district.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister stressed that peace is the foundation for progress and appealed for collective efforts to restore normalcy. He noted that over the past two months, he has engaged with legislators, officials and community leaders across both hill and valley districts — including Jiribam, Senapati, Kangpokpi and Ukhrul — to listen to grievances and foster understanding.
Singh acknowledged that while residents across communities have expressed a strong desire for peace, recent incidents have disrupted the process. He assured that those responsible would be identified and urged people to remain vigilant against divisive forces.
Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, present as Guest of Honour, commended the Chief Minister’s outreach and said direct engagement with citizens has strengthened confidence in the government’s leadership. He urged civil society organisations to cooperate in maintaining harmony, warning that division and hatred would only delay development.
Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam, who presided over the programme, highlighted the importance of the new water supply schemes in improving access to clean drinking water. He added that the community halls would serve as vital spaces for social and cultural activities, while also raising concerns over poor road conditions in the constituency.
The event was attended by senior officials, including Imphal West Deputy Commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, representatives from the Public Health Engineering Department, district administration, civil society groups and local residents.
