Sikkim – On April 21, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang extended greetings to civil servants on the occasion of National Civil Services Day, describing them as the backbone of governance and vital to the functioning of the state.
In a message shared on social media, Tamang lauded their commitment to public service, noting that civil servants play a crucial role in turning government policies into tangible benefits for citizens. He invoked Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s famous description of the civil services as the “steel frame of India,” underscoring their enduring importance in nation building.
The Chief Minister urged officials to uphold integrity, professionalism, and accountability, stressing that these values are essential for maintaining public trust. He expressed gratitude to civil servants for their dedication and called on them to continue working toward a transparent and responsive administration.
Civil Services Day is observed annually on April 21, commemorating Patel’s 1947 address to the first batch of Administrative Services probationers in Delhi, where he emphasized their role in shaping India’s governance.
“Together, let us build a progressive Sikkim founded on trust and service,” Tamang said, reaffirming his government’s appreciation for the contribution of civil servants
