Meghalaya – A 15-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district has gone missing after reportedly falling into a waterfall in Meghalaya’s Sohra region on Wednesday, April 29, according to officials.
The incident took place at Wei Sawdong Falls, a well-known tourist attraction near Cherrapunji. Authorities said the teenager, who was visiting the site with her family, slipped while trying to take photographs close to the edge and plunged into one of the deep pools below.
Rescue teams were immediately deployed and carried out a day-long search operation. Despite extensive efforts, the girl could not be located before nightfall. Officials confirmed that the operation was halted after sunset due to poor visibility and the challenging terrain.
“The search was suspended for the night and will resume in the morning with the State Response Team,” a senior district official stated.
Authorities are expected to continue the search on Thursday as efforts intensify to trace the missing teenager.
