CRPF Anniversary Parade to be Held in Assam, Amit Shah to Attend

Assam –    For the first time, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will mark its annual anniversary parade in Assam, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah scheduled to attend as the chief guest on February 21.

The event will take place at Guwahati’s Sarusajai Stadium, where eight contingents comprising nearly 1,400 personnel will participate in the ceremonial march. Senior CRPF officials announced the programme during a press briefing in the city earlier this week.

Rajiv Srivastava, Additional Director General for the North East Zone, highlighted that hosting the parade in Assam reflects the force’s longstanding presence in the region and its role in maintaining peace and internal security. He added that Shah’s participation will serve as recognition of the CRPF’s sacrifices and contributions to national stability.

Ahead of the anniversary celebrations, the Director General’s Parade is scheduled for February 20, with CRPF chief GP Singh presiding. Deputy Commandant Kumar will lead the parade, which will also feature bands and buglers drawn from eight CRPF sectors.

During the DG’s Parade, 26 awards will be conferred, including six Distinguished Service Medals and five trophies. In addition, 61 medals and eight trophies have already been awarded by the Director General. A citation will also be presented to the Best Forward Operating Base established in Naxal-affected areas over the past year.

The two-day programme will showcase demonstrations of operational tactics and professional skills, underscoring the CRPF’s readiness to operate across diverse terrains and security challenges.
