Assam – The Assam government has announced a fresh round of police transfers, moving several senior officers across districts and battalions. Among the key changes is the posting of Assam Police Service officer Aseema Kalita, who has been shifted from her role as second‑in‑command at the 15th Assam Police Battalion in Eraligool to deputy commandant of the 1st Commando Battalion at Mandakata in North Guwahati. Kalita, a 2015 batch officer, will take charge of her new assignment once she formally assumes office.
The notification, issued on February 13 by Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Tewari, partially revises an earlier order dated February 5. Officials described the reshuffle as being carried out in the interest of public service.
Other transfers include Anita Konwar, also from the 2015 APS batch, who has been moved within Udalguri district from additional superintendent of police (headquarters) to the crime branch, replacing Muzzafar Hussain. Anshul Singh, an IPS officer recruited in 2022, has been shifted from assistant superintendent of police (headquarters) in Tinsukia to additional superintendent of police (crime) in Goalpara, succeeding Rituraj Doley.
In Tinsukia, Amar Jyoti Saikia has been transferred from deputy superintendent of police (special and intelligence) to take charge as co‑district superintendent of police in Laharighat, Morigaon, replacing Diganta Baruah. Meanwhile, Nayan Moni Baruah moves from West Karbi Anglong to become deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) in Dibrugarh, filling the vacancy left by IPS officer Abhishek Kumar Yadav.
The reshuffle underscores the state government’s ongoing efforts to reorganize postings within the police force, with officers expected to assume their new responsibilities in the coming days.
