Arunachal Security Review Stresses Vigilance, Technology Use Against Emerging Threats

Arunachal Pradesh –  Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik on Tuesday chaired a high‑level security review at Lok Bhavan, urging authorities to keep public safety at the forefront as the state faces evolving internal and external challenges.

The meeting brought together Home Minister Mama Natung, Chief Secretary Manish Gupta, senior officials, representatives of the state police, Border Roads Organisation, Assam Rifles, and the Central Reserve Police Force. Deputy commissioners and superintendents of police from Tirap, Changlang, and Longding districts also attended. The review followed up on decisions taken at the Namsai security meeting held earlier on July 26.

Governor Parnaik emphasised that peace and security are the foundation of development, calling for a people‑centric approach that safeguards lives and livelihoods while strengthening public trust. He directed district administrations, particularly in border and sensitive areas, to remain vigilant and responsive, and pressed for greater use of modern technology to reinforce the state’s security framework.

Warning against attempts by external elements to create instability, Parnaik highlighted Arunachal Pradesh’s strategic importance and the need for sustained vigilance. “When Arunachal Pradesh is secured, the nation is secured,” he remarked, while commending the coordination among security forces deployed in the state. He also praised the armed forces for building goodwill with local communities, noting that public confidence is as vital as operational readiness.

Home Minister Mama Natung outlined several initiatives, including a surrender policy to reintegrate misguided youth, the introduction of the e‑Inner Line Permit system, and other measures aimed at strengthening governance and internal security. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to peace, improved service delivery, and citizen safety.

Officials from the police, Border Roads Organisation, and district administrations presented updates on actions taken since the Namsai meeting, reporting progress on the ground as well as challenges that remain in tightening Arunachal Pradesh’s security apparatus.
