Assam – In a significant administrative overhaul, the Assam Government has announced the transfer and posting of several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers, reshaping leadership across departments and districts.
According to the official notification, Partha Pratim Majumdar, who had been serving as Commissioner and Secretary in the Home and Political Department as well as the Women and Child Development Department, will now take charge as Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bajali.
Narendra Kumar Shah, currently heading Employment and Craftsmen Training and serving as Managing Director of the Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (AIIDC), has been appointed Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. He will continue to hold his AIIDC responsibilities in addition to the new role.
Aditya Vikram Yadav has been moved from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to assume duties as DC of Lakhimpur. Preeti Kumari has been named DC of West Karbi Anglong, while Ayushi Jain will take over as DC of Darrang.
Among ACS officers, Pubali Gohain has been shifted from Darrang to Golaghat as DC. Meanwhile, Saranga Pani Sarma, who previously served as DC of West Karbi Anglong, has been elevated to Secretary in the Transport Department, with additional charge as State Project Director of the Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society.
Other notable changes include Gautam Das, former DC of Baksa, who has been appointed Secretary in the Panchayat and Rural Development Department. Jatin Bora, earlier DC of Chirang, will now serve as Secretary in the General Administration Department and the Department of Innovation, Incubation and Start-Ups.
Pronab Jit Kakoty has been transferred to the Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department as Additional Secretary and Director of Employment and Craftsmen Training. Parag Kumar Kakaty, formerly DC of Golaghat, has been posted as Additional Secretary in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, with added responsibility as Additional CEO of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.
Mridul Kumar Das, who was DC of Bajali, has been reassigned as Additional Secretary in the Home and Political Department and the Women and Child Development Department. He will also oversee matters related to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the e-FT project.
At the district level, Dhiraj Saud has been appointed DC of Baksa after being relieved from the Welfare of Bodoland Department, while Gakul Chandra Brahma will serve as DC of Chirang.
Officials described the reshuffle as part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance administrative efficiency and strengthen governance across Assam’s districts and departments.
