Amit Shah Set for Manipur Visit; Dates Yet to Be Announced

Imphal, Manipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Manipur later this month, although the exact dates of the trip have not yet been confirmed, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Imphal, Khemchand said Shah’s visit was expected to take place during October and that details of the programme would be announced once the schedule is finalised.

The chief minister was addressing the media following a meeting of the state Cabinet, which discussed various issues and adopted a resolution expressing appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service.

During the briefing, Khemchand and government spokesperson Sapam Ranjan Singh highlighted several development initiatives and welfare programmes being implemented in the state. They also outlined projects that the government said have contributed to Manipur’s growth and infrastructure development in recent years.

The proposed visit by the Union Home Minister comes as the Centre and the state government continue efforts aimed at addressing key issues concerning Manipur while advancing development and governance initiatives.

Officials said further information regarding Shah’s itinerary and engagements in the state would be made public after the programme receives final approval.

The visit is expected to focus on matters relating to administration, development and ongoing initiatives being undertaken in the state.
