Shillong, Meghalaya: Â Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday inaugurated a new shooting range at Khliehtyrchi in West Jaintia Hills, a facility expected to strengthen training opportunities for aspiring shooters in the state.
The range, developed by the West Jaiñtia Shooting Association, has been set up to support the growth of shooting sports and help athletes prepare for higher-level competitions, including the 2027 National Games, which Meghalaya is slated to host.
Sharing the development in a post on X, Sangma said the state government had extended support to the association by providing shooting equipment and safety gear to enhance training facilities for young sportspersons.
He expressed confidence that the new infrastructure would create a conducive environment for budding shooters to sharpen their skills and gain greater exposure ahead of the national sporting event.
The Chief Minister also urged the athletes to remain dedicated to their training and strive for excellence, stating that their achievements could bring distinction to Meghalaya on the national stage.
The inauguration forms part of the state’s broader efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure and nurture emerging talent in the run-up to the 2027 National Games.
