Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh: The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved a wide-ranging set of decisions aimed at strengthening technical education, expanding support systems for women, improving healthcare administration and enhancing food safety enforcement across the state.
A key decision taken at the Cabinet meeting was the adoption of a uniform recruitment framework for 12 categories of teaching and technical positions in government engineering and polytechnic institutions. The move is expected to streamline appointments, promote transparency in the selection process and bring state recruitment norms in line with standards prescribed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
To improve assistance available to women facing emergencies and other forms of distress, the Cabinet sanctioned 20 posts for the full-scale operation of the Women Helpline-181. The round-the-clock service will offer emergency response, counselling support, legal guidance and referral-based assistance to women across Arunachal Pradesh.
The Cabinet also took a decision to honour several distinguished personalities of the state by associating their names with educational institutions. Under the approved proposal, Government College, Seppa, will be rechristened as Donglo Sonam Government College, Wessang. Likewise, Government Higher Secondary School, Daporijo, and Government Model Degree College, Daporijo, will be renamed after Lt. Punji Mara and Popak Bage respectively.
In another welfare-oriented measure, the state government approved an upward revision in the grade pay of employees working under the National Leprosy Elimination Programme (NLEP). The decision recognises the contributions of programme personnel engaged in leprosy prevention, patient care, treatment support and rehabilitation services.
Seeking to reinforce the state’s food safety mechanism, the Cabinet sanctioned five new Group-B Gazetted posts of Food Safety Officers. The additional personnel are expected to strengthen inspection and surveillance activities and improve enforcement of food safety standards in various districts.
The Cabinet further adopted a resolution acknowledging Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public executive office, spanning his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and later as Prime Minister. It also reiterated its commitment to supporting the national vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047 under the Viksit Bharat initiative.
The decisions taken at the meeting reflect the government’s focus on strengthening institutional capacity, improving service delivery and advancing welfare measures across multiple sectors, including education, healthcare, women’s empowerment and public administration.
