Priyanka Gandhi to Lead Congress Review in Assam on February 19

Assam –   Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is set to arrive in Assam on February 19 for a major organisational review of the party’s state unit. The visit was confirmed by Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, the Congress in-charge for Assam, on Tuesday.

Priyanka Gandhi, who serves on the party’s screening committee, will be joined by senior observers Shiv Kumar, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and Bandhu Tirkey. The team is expected to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the party’s structure and grassroots functioning.

Her itinerary begins with a morning flight into Guwahati, where she will head directly to the Kamakhya Temple to offer prayers. Following the temple visit, she will move to the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters for a full day of meetings. Starting at 11 a.m., Gandhi will chair back-to-back sessions with representatives from Block, Zila, and Village Congress Committees, as well as members of the NSUI and party wings representing Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Adivasi communities. The deliberations are expected to continue late into the night.

According to Singh, this marks the first occasion when all three screening committee observers will engage directly with grassroots workers during such a review. The discussions will focus on evaluating organisational strength, identifying political challenges, and gathering feedback from local leaders to shape the party’s strategy in Assam.
