Mahavatar Narsimha Becomes India’s Biggest Animated Blockbuster Ever! ₹19 Crore & Counting

Mahavatar Narsimha Roars Past Box Office Records, Becomes India’s Top Animated Film

Ashwin Kumar’s mythological animated feature Mahavatar Narsimha has stormed the Indian box office, rewriting history in just three days. The film, which brings to life the fierce avatar of Lord Vishnu, has now officially surpassed the 2005 classic Hanuman to become the highest-grossing Indian animated movie ever.

Released nationwide on July 25, the film opened modestly with earnings of ₹2.10 crore on Friday. But by Saturday, audiences flocked to theatres, pushing collections to ₹5.50 crore. Sunday saw an even bigger surge, with the film raking in over ₹11 crore gross, bringing the weekend total to a staggering ₹19 crore.

What’s driving this success? A compelling blend of mythology, high-quality animation, and emotional storytelling that’s resonating with both families and young viewers. The Hindi version has been a major contributor, accounting for more than ₹13.5 crore of the weekend’s gross earnings, while the Telugu and other language versions added to the film’s pan-India appeal.

Backed by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions, Mahavatar Narsimha is not just a box office triumph—it’s a cultural moment for Indian animation. With plans already underway for a multi-film franchise exploring other avatars of Vishnu, this cinematic universe is just getting started.
