Delhi Police Arrest Sikkim Man in ₹13,000-Crore Drug Trafficking Case

Sikkim –  The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has arrested a Sikkim-based man in connection with one of the country’s largest drug trafficking cases, involving narcotics valued at nearly ₹13,000 crore.

Officials identified the accused as Tilak Prasad Sharma (40), who is alleged to have played a role in supplying cannabis sourced from Thailand to an international syndicate. His arrest is linked to a major crackdown carried out on October 2, 2024, when police seized massive consignments of cocaine and cannabis from multiple locations across Delhi, Gujarat, and Punjab.

Investigators said the syndicate’s mastermind, Virendra Basoya, is currently abroad, while a Red Corner Notice has been issued against his son, Rishabh, who is also outside the country. Authorities are now focusing on tracing the network’s global connections and financial trail.

The October operation had already led to the arrest of more than 15 individuals, exposing the scale and reach of the trafficking racket. Sharma’s detention marks another significant step in dismantling the syndicate, which police believe has deep international links.
