Assam – Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao has expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) enjoys strong public support in Assam as the state prepares for its upcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, Sao said senior leaders from Chhattisgarh have been assigned responsibilities across various Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam as part of the BJP’s election strategy. He noted that these leaders have already completed rounds of organisational reviews and meetings.
Highlighting the impact of what he termed the “double engine government,” Sao claimed that Assam has witnessed significant progress under BJP rule. “The atmosphere in Assam is completely in favour of the BJP. The state has moved away from unrest and is steadily advancing on the path of development,” he remarked.
He further added that the party is conducting training programmes for district presidents and office-bearers to strengthen booth-level management and grassroots organisation ahead of the polls.
Meanwhile, discussions around the upcoming special revision of electoral rolls in Assam have drawn attention, particularly in the context of the state’s unique citizenship framework and the ongoing Supreme Court monitoring of the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
In a separate development, Chhattisgarh Finance Minister O. P. Choudhary spoke about his state’s forthcoming Budget Session. Scheduled later this month, the session will see the presentation of the government’s third Budget under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. Choudhary said the Budget would align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, focusing on infrastructure, technology, and industrial growth. He noted that earlier Budgets had emphasised education, welfare measures for the poor, women, and widows, along with growth-oriented strategies.
