Dibrugarh, Assam – Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday, March 6, laid the foundation stone for the upcoming building of the Dibrugarh Press Club, describing the initiative as a significant step toward strengthening facilities for journalists in the region.
The new structure will come up at Dakshin Jalan Nagar in Dibrugarh and is expected to provide media professionals with a permanent, well-equipped space to carry out their work.
Addressing the gathering, Sarma said the project reflects the government’s commitment to supporting the press and acknowledging its role as the fourth pillar of democracy. He noted that the facility would help create a better working environment for journalists and enhance the functioning of the press club.
Once completed, the building is envisioned as a hub for media activity in the district, offering space for meetings, discussions, and other professional engagements.
