Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Boyfriend on Demand, a romantic comedy starring BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, set to premiere on March 6. The series blends office drama with digital escapism, exploring the tension between fantasy and reality in modern relationships.
Jisoo plays Seo Mi-rae, a weary webtoon producer overwhelmed by deadlines and routine. Seeking relief, she signs up for a subscription-based virtual dating service that promises tailor‑made romantic experiences based on each user’s “ideal type.” The trailer contrasts Mi-rae’s picture‑perfect digital encounters with her far less glamorous everyday life.
Her real-world interactions include a growing bond with colleague Kyeong-nam, portrayed by Seo In-guk. Their relationship develops through shared overtime hours, offering a grounded counterpoint to Mi-rae’s curated digital romances.
Directed by Kim Jung-sik (Work Later, Drink Now; No Gain No Love) and written by Namgung Do-young, the series uses the virtual boyfriend concept to probe the gap between idealized love and imperfect human connection.
Adding to the intrigue, the show features cameo appearances by Seo Kang-jun, Lee Soo-hyuk, Ong Seong-wu, Lee Jae-wook, Lee Hyun-wook, Jay Park, Kim Young-dae, and Lee Sang-yi — each embodying different versions of Mi-rae’s simulated partners.
With its mix of workplace realism, digital fantasy, and star-studded cast, Boyfriend on Demand positions Jisoo for one of her most significant acting outings yet.
