Election Commission Team Begins Assam Visit to Assess Poll Readiness

Assam –  A full bench of the Election Commission of India (ECI), headed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, has arrived in Assam for a three-day review of preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections.

The delegation, which also includes Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, was welcomed in Guwahati by Assam’s Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel.

During the visit, the Commission is scheduled to meet representatives of political parties, senior election officials, and regulatory authorities. District election officers and superintendents of police will brief the team on ground-level arrangements, including polling logistics and security measures.

The Commission is expected to address the media on February 18, the final day of its visit.

Assam’s 126-member Legislative Assembly is due for elections in March–April, with the current term set to expire on May 20.
