Assam/Guwahati: Thousands of admirers are expected to gather at Zubeen Kshetra as a three‑day observance dedicated to music legend Zubeen Garg commenced on Thursday, marking the first anniversary of his passing.
The memorial site, which houses Garg’s resting place, has been adorned with flowers and traditional gamosas for the occasion. Supported by the Assam government, the commemorative programme has been designed to accommodate large crowds of fans and devotees.
The opening day began with morning prayers, followed by a naam‑prasanga in the afternoon. Organisers said the second day will feature cultural performances, while the final day will conclude with Bhagawat recitation and Bhaona.
Authorities and organisers have appealed to visitors to maintain discipline and participate peacefully throughout the three‑day event.
The remembrance comes as admirers across Assam pay tribute to Garg, who was affectionately known as Pranor Silpi — the artist of life — and whose music continues to resonate deeply with generations of listeners.
